My name is Vicki Wright and I am from Orleans, Ontario, which is just east of Ottawa.
I am from a family with two wonderful parents and a great younger brother. Growing up, I attended Divine Infant Parish and was involved with youth ministry at the parish. I am so thankful for the many things learned from the people that I worked with in youth ministry, such as how to share my faith and how to journey with others in their faith lives. After graduating from university I found work as a Speech-Language Pathologist at Ottawa-area schools. I have continued in this position part time since joining the Servants of the Cross, and still enjoy it as it allows me to see God's healing touch in a very real way.
I started discerning my vocation in 2001 after praying to be open to God's will. God showed me, in a very clear way, that He was calling me to discern the vocation of religious life. At that point, I was not yet ready to enter a religious community as I wanted to finish my education. In the years since, God has led me to some amazing religious communities, but none of them really fit. However, after meeting the Servants of the Cross, something clicked. I finally found a community that shared my love for the Church and all its teachings, a devotion to Mary and the Eucharist, and most especially, a community whose ministry flows from a strong personal and communal prayer life. It quickly became apparent that God had this community in mind for me and that He had been preparing me for the Servants of the Cross. I joined the Servants of the Cross in September 2008 and I have the peace of knowing that I am where God wants me to be.
