MelindaKeeping things simple - this seems to be a common theme throughout my life. I grew up in southern Saskatchewan on my Dad's family farm, and thoroughly enjoyed the skills and values that I acquired. Working on farm machinery, scaling a granary, or driving a grain truck were common things to be done. Learning how to cook and bake, or weeding a garden alongside my Mom was how the summer passed so quickly. My parents are hardworking, honest people who raised me to believe in God, and to participate in my faith. I believe this foundation led to my involvement in various Catholic groups that formed me in my walk with God.

A defining moment happened in the fall of 1997 at a weekend retreat where I made a personal commitment to let go of being ‘in charge' of my life and let God take control. I made a heartfelt proclamation of faith that I wanted Him as my personal Lord, and that I didn't want to go on doing things my own way anymore. From that time on, I have been able to see God's hand in my life and how He is guiding me every step of the way.

Through my own faith journey, allowing God to access more and more of my heart, I believe He has brought me to where I am today. I have responded to His call to walk down the road of religious life. I honestly don't know what the final result will be, but I have no doubt that I am in His will right now. I am encouraged each day by the sincerity of my sisters here in community, and by the common desire for us to seek the Lord, live in simplicity and "Do whatever He tells [me]"
